Everything that came before, builds the now. No one period needs define the whole, as no one floor of a building need define the entirety. Regardless of how you acknowledge, deny, or rationalize it, the impact is there. Nothing profound or new there, we just sometimes forget.

It's been a weird few weeks for me. I've just been kinda overloaded with work and life stuff.

I got through Paper Girls S1. I think it is a good show, but I don't know that it is a good adaptation. Just too much, too different, and for reasons I struggle to fathom. I assume it comes down to money, one way or another, but I'm have a hard time separating the two iterations on this one.

Gamewise, the highlight of the last couple weeks was getting all the dragonballs in Fortnite so I got the Shenron glider....It's been a struggle getting time in.

Still working on Proven Guilty. Still eons behind on comics.

I,m going to review the james bond movies but with a twist, instead of just reviewing all the movies, I,m going to talk about how the movies could have stayed up to date with the times by using the newest books being written at the time. It is now Sunday so the Dragon show is back tonight. I’m back into ESO, nothing else out there beats the character and world of it. And you can play it like a single player Elder Scrolls game to a large degree.

Musically I don’t know where I’m at right now. My main mix has stuff in there where I’m not sure how it got in. I’m throwing a lot of stuff to the wall to see if I’m in that mood. Been listening to my custom Dream Theater mix though.

I did get to meet up with a friend from Australia; she and her family were in DC. So gives hope that one day me and Caffpow can have a rendezvous.

I have done a xfiles rewatch sometime in the last few years and stopped at season 7 because I never got seasons 8 and 9 on dvd. I did watch the first movie but not the 2nd during my rewatch. I still have,t watched the last new season of x-files. the series still holds up pretty well.

I'll just echo/reaffirm the summer-to-fall transition feelings. I legitimately love autumn, and I love teaching so it'll be good to get back into the classroom. That said, I once again find myself meticulously trying to optimize the final days of freedom, and it's bringing me to a heavy-but-worthwhile sort of revelation.

The fact of that matter is that I'm always going to have more that I'd like to [read/watch/eat/listen to/drink/experience] than I can given the amount of time I have in the summer. I guess that's a pitfall of being a person with a solid (and ever-growing) number of interests. But the real heaviness is the realization that this isn't just true of the summer, but life. No matter how much righteous scenes make it into the movie that is my life, some stuff is just never going to get filmed.

Ain't no "Release the Snydercut" movements for existence.

From one teacher to another, amen, dude. Had my first "first day of class" nightmare last night, which means are getting real.

Anyways, I'm also spending a lot of team thinking about Bull Durham -- watched it for the first time and it's stuck in my brain in the best way.

This movie RULES.

As for the X-Files, I've never actually finished the original run. I plan to try and watch everything (original run, movies, and new seasons), but I'm just shooting for the original run for now. Its still a ton of content. I historically get turned off during my rewatch when I watch the X-Files/Cops mash-up episode in Season 7. Just kills my spirit, man.

And Montana was nice for a while but I can only go so long without seeing trees (and family and friends, I guess). But now that I'm back east I really hope to see you guys at another Con soon!

Dude, what SYNTHWAVE acts you been rocking? I don't know if I've been obvious about it, but synthwave/chillwave/the various off-shoots are like 75% of my musical diet these days.

I've been attempting another rewatch of The X-Files. I plan to actually finish it this time around. Over the past year of so I have also been getting deep into random outdoor Youtube channels for fishing and camping. Very relaxing and also learning a lot for the inevitable Gas Wars and barbarian thunderdome scenarios.

Dude, I've been thinking about doing an X-Files rewatch. The question becomes, when are you going to stop? I don't know if I could bring myself to push past the original nine seasons.

Boys, I feel ashamed to KEEP FORGETTING that your actual OL website exists. The regular spicy memes are a powerful drug. But anyways lets get to the commute:

I've been back on the East Coast for a bit over 6 months. Feels good to be back where there are trees.

Been running a lot this summer training for some races but gave up on them because I was getting burnt out with not enough down time on the weekends. Being up in the White Mtns has been great for weekend trail runs though.

When I haven't been drowning my brain in synthwave and retrowave mixes at work, I've been revisiting some old friends (Lamb of God, RatM, and a few others, including random local metal bands from Melrose/Malden from the High School days)

For gaming, I've been playing a lot of Squad, a big map, big team tactical shooter. It's not the best tactical shooter out there but it scratches a lot of itches for me(big maps, lots of players, class based, cooperative).

I've been attempting another rewatch of The X-Files. I plan to actually finish it this time around. Over the past year of so I have also been getting deep into random outdoor Youtube channels for fishing and camping. Very relaxing and also learning a lot for the inevitable Gas Wars and barbarian thunderdome scenarios.

I have not been reading a lot this year because I have been trying to work on some creative writing projects (also failing at that), But I am hoping to finish Revelation Space when I get a moment. Plus I have a huge reading list after that.

That's the big stuff right now. I always get pumped up when I see an OL article link on Facebook. I won't forget about this slice of heaven again. I'll be sure not to get lost in the bowels of the ship again.
